Government and Military Airlifts
Originally designed as a military transport, with pressurized cabin, capable of operating from short and unpaved runways, IL76 freighter achieved an excellent reputation for its versatility and operational reliability.
Internal cabin measuring up to 24 m in length and rear ramp provides smooth loading/unloading for many kinds of rolling stock, such as armored personnel carriers (APCs), utility trucks, trailers etc.
The aircraft proved to be ideal for transportation of three 20’ sea containers which made him first cost-effective solution for the UN peacekeepers multimodal logistics solutions, vehicles, military pallets and other heavy, out- and oversized cargo.
The aircraft has flown vital cargo into the dangerous regions of the world for decades, using its rugged construction, rough-field performance and ramp-loading capabilities to great effect.
That is why IL76 became a workhorse on the air bridge as set up between Afghanistan and the homelands of all the nations participating in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), a NATO-led security mission in Afghanistan, established by the United Nations Security Council in December 2001.
More than 5 years Aviacon was providing logistical support for the Dutch Ministry of Defence supplying their military contingent in ISAF. |
