The province of Gansu has opened a cargo air route connecting the Chinese city of Lanzhou and the Russian city of Novosibirsk
On June 12, 2023, an Il-76 aircraft of the Russian airline Aviacon Zitotrans with a cargo of 30.7 tons on board took off from Zhongchuan International Airport in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, Northwest China and headed to the airport in the city of Novosibirsk, marking the official opening of the cargo air route connecting Lanzhou and Novosibirsk.
This is the second international cargo air route opened by the Gansu Logistics Group, following the cargo air route between Lanzhou and Moscow, as well as the 16th international cargo air route opened in Gansu Province.
A spokesperson for the Gansu Logistics Group stated that Il-76 and Boeing 757 aircraft will mainly operate flights on the aforementioned air route, transporting goods such as mechanical equipment and cross-border e-commerce products.
According to the spokesperson, the opening of this route signifies the expansion of cargo air transport channels between northwest China and Russia, as well as promoting bilateral trade development, creating a strong foundation for transforming Gansu Province into an open air hub within the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative."
