THIS year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Ilyushin-76 flight. In those four decades the aircraft has dominated the skies in the classes of heavy cargo and military capability. But haplessly, the Il-76 has hit the headlines for the wrongs reasons, as an aircraft plagued with safety issues.
Il-76-only Russian airline Aviacon has expressed its concerns about other airlines’ poor adherence to standards and regulations, which bring the aircraft into disrepute.
