Transportation of nuclear materials

The shipment nuclear fuel was delivered to the Bilibino Nuclear Power Station. The flight was chartered  by TVEL, leading Russian producer of nuclear fuel for power stations.

Aviacon Zitotrans  is the second Russian IL76 operator licensed to transport nuclear (including fissile) materials.

TVEL supplies fuel for 73 power reactors in the world and 30 research reactors. Bilibino is the only nuclear power plant located in the permafrost zone (Chukotka).

Supporting UN mission in Mali

Engineering equipment for the UN mission in Mali was delivered to Bamako, the capital city of this African nation (MINUSMA).

MINUSMA (The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali) was established by Security Council resolution 2100 of 25 April 2013 to support political processes in that country and carry out a number of security-related tasks. The Mission was asked to support the transitional authorities of Mali in the stabilization of the country and implementation of the transitional roadmap.

Humanitarian aid for Nepal

On the 25–28 of April 2015 the most powerful earthquake since 1934 happened in Nepal. According to preliminary data, over 7000 people died, more than 14 000 people were injured. Russia was one among the first countries, who sent rescuers to the disaster area. As always in such situations, Aviacon Zitotrans is not left out: 1.05.2015 we completed the first flight to transport the humanitarian cargo to Kathmandu (Nepal). The Shipper was DFID – UK Department for International Development.

The horses can fly, too - by Aviacon Zitotrans

Aviacon Zitotrans continues the tradition of unusual cargo carriage. At this time 21 sports horse racers were successfully transferred from Sheremetyevo and Koltsovo into one of the Asian capitals.

Animals, of course, have passed through pre-flight inspection and vaccination, also they have obtained all necessary veterinary and sanitary documents.

Special containers have been used for the transportation of horses, one per three “persons”. During the flight the unique passengers got some hay, to reduce the effects of stress. Besides, 4.5 tons of hay were sent with horses for stock.

All the arrived animals feel good coming to their new residence, and are ready to demonstrate their sport skills on the new racetrack.

Aviacon attends AIR CARGO EXCHANGE 2014

24-25 February Aviacon’s commercial executives attended AIR CARGO EXCHANGE 2014 International conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Air Cargo Exchange is an annual network meeting point of the leading air cargo charter airlines with their customers, civil aviation regulators, UN agencies, humanitarian NGOs and other stakeholders of the global air charter market.

Together with their colleagues from AirBridge Cargo Airlines, Ruslan SALIS, Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, Saudia Cargo, Silk Way Airlines etc. Aviacon team discussed logistic aspects of ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) withdrawal from Afghanistan, supporting projects of The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) and other non-governmental humanitarian organizations, air logistic requirements of major transnational oil corporations, such as British Petroleum, Shell etc.).

Aviacon delivered peacekeepers' equipment to South Sudan

Aviacon fleet have been utilised by the UN humanitarian agencies to provide aid for yet another one African nation suffered from the civil conflict caused by violence between rival army factions in December last year. Over 3,000,000 residents were in urgent need of food.

When the UN decided to reinforce its mission in South Sudan through relocation of UNOCI (UN Mission in Cote-d’Ivoire) equipment from Abidjan to South Sudan, it was Aviacon fleet that made a series of flights with ‘blue helmet’ armored personnel carriers, vehicles, camp supplies to Juba.

Humanitarian aid for refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) chartered Aviacon fleet to deliver humanitarian aid for more than 1.000.000 IDPs in CAR.

Due to poor road conditions the only way to help African people was to move urgently needed humanitarian aid by air. This was made by Aviacon’s IL76 ended up in the area at that time. All in all more than 50 tonnes of relief goods were delivered directly to refugee camp set up in M’poko international airport in Bangui.

Flight requested by the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations

Aviacon performed a series of flights with peacekeeper’s equipment to the Central African Republic chartered by the French Ministry of Defence.

Around 480 tonnes of contingent-owned equipment (APC, containers) were airlifted to Bangui, capital of CAR.

UN Security Council is expected to decide on deployment of 12.000-strong peacekeeping forces in CAR to provide adequate resources to stabilize the situation in the country and to stop violence in one of the poorest African nation.

Under the framework contract with the Central Bank of Russia Aviacon has provided airlift services for the valuable cargo of its VIP customer thus affirming its reputation as the most reliable air cargo carrier in the Russian Federation.  

Dubai Airshow 2013

In the framework of Dubai Airshow 2013, hosted in the United Arab Emirates on 8-12 November 2013, Aviacon held a number of business meetings with its long-term local partners, new customers and suppliers to strengthen its market positions in the Middle East.

Aviacon is involved in Caspian Air Cargo Summit

“Caspian Air Cargo Summit” was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 28-30 October 2013. Aviacon Zitotrans discussed up-to-date issues of air cargo charter industry with its old partners and potential customers. Outsize shipment air delivery was in the focus of the plenary meetings and panels.

Participation in this key industry event allows Aviacon Zitotrans to strengthen its influence in Central Asia and to extend its route network in the region.
